5th Annual Reclaiming the Arabic Narrative Contest - Why I Love Arabic Challenge! [Voting is On and Deadline is Extended!]

The Arabic Language and Culture Club is hosting our 5th annual contest to reclaim the Arab narrative. This year, we challenge you to share a reason why YOU love Arabic. Whether you are a native speaker or just appreciate the Arabic language and culture, all UCI students and alumni are welcomed to participate. The two contestants with the most amount of likes on Instagram will win a cash prize! Voters win too!

Please submit your own image or video expressing any reason why you love Arabic. Incorporate Arabic language or culture into your submission somehow. See examples below:


"I have been apprehensive about having to wear a mask, but the mask wearing camel brought a smile to my face. My Arab friends do the same! They have a great sense of humor and I love them for it!"



"Dates are one of my favorite snacks. They are healthy and keep you going. The Middle East has so many interesting ways of using them. I love the Arabs for that!"

We are grateful for all the wonderful entries that were submitted this year for our 5th annual contest to reclaim the Arab narrative! Contestants shared a reason why they love Arabic and the Arab culture—highlighting the cuisine, art, and diversity of the region.

Voting started!

However, we are still accepting submissions on a rolling basis until Wednesday, June 3rd at 5 pm.

• Winners will be announced on June 5th.
• A random voter from our mailing list will also be selected to win a $10 gift card! Join our mailing list here!

• Ask your supporters to join too since the winning voter will be chosen from the mailing list!

Prizes:

1. The post with the most amount of likes will receive a $25 prepaid visa gift card.
2. The post with the second most amount of likes will receive a $15 prepaid visa gift card.
3. All voters will be included in a raffle to win a $10 prepaid visa gift card.

Contest Winners will be announced on Instagram Friday, June 5th at 7 pm and the winning voter will be announced via our email list on Friday, June 5th at 8 pm, so join our list!
