UCI BADAAS Homecoming 2018

Dear Anteaters,

The Department of Asian American Studies invites you to attend a special event for UCI’s Homecoming Weekend.

What:  A film screening, exhibit, and panel discussion about the history of student activism that created Asian American Studies at UCI

When:  March 3 (Saturday), 1:30-3:00 p.m.

Where:  The Orange County and Southeast Asian Archive Center
(Gateway Study Center, Building 101, D-5 on the campus map).

Why:  Since winter 2017, Dr. Thuy Vo Dang (curator of UCI’s Southeast Asian Archive) and I have mentored a team of dedicated student interns to research the Beginnings of Activism for the Department of Asian American Studies (Check out their website in progress: BADAAS@UCI). They conducted archival research and oral histories with former students whose commitment and passion led to the creation of Asian American Studies at UCI. Please join us to learn from the students’ research and to share your memories and perspectives about why Asian American Studies matters.

Please rsvp for the BADAAS@UCI Homecoming event by Feb. 26. We hope to see you on March 3, 1:30 – 3:00 p.m at the OC&SEAAC !
