Engaging humanities perspectives, environmental studies, and social justice theory, the Just Environments Collaborative unites humanities centers across the United States to foreground the intertwined nature of social and environmental justice problems. Our trans-institutional meetings unite a cohort of humanities centers across the United States to foreground the intertwined nature of social and environmental justice. The core group institutions are organizing a number of shared interdisciplinary events for the 2020-2021 academic year, and each event includes a by-invitation reading group/photovoice meeting as well as a public webinar.

Our April reading group meeting is hosted by Amy Elias, Director of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Humanities Center, and will include a "photovoice" activity (inspired by https://photovoice.org/) and also discussion of selections from Terry Tempest Williams' latest book, Erosion: Essays of Undoing (Farrar, Straus, Giroux, 2019). Links to the reading and photovoice folders will be sent to you after you register for the meeting.

This event is a precursor for a talk by Terry Tempest Williams on Thursday April 15th. Please see the event page here for more information.

This event is co-sponsored by the UCI Humanities Center, the Just Environments Collaboration and the Environmental Humanities Research Cluster. To learn more about the cluster, please contact Prof. James Nisbet and Aaron Katzeman.
