"LITERATURE OUT LOUD"

A new initiative supported by the International Center for Writing and Translation and Illuminations

Call for Submissions:

Are you tired of Zoom? Are you sick of reading things on the screen?
How about giving your eyes a break and listening to literature instead?

The International Center for Writing and Translation is soliciting suggestions for literary texts to be dramatized and recorded onto audio file podcasts that will be made available on our website. If you are teaching a text next year and would like the students to be able to listen to a dramatized version, please submit suggestions for titles by clicking the blue button below. Poems and short stories are best, but we can also consider chapters of novels or scenes of plays. We will select 3-4 titles as a pilot project and confirm copyright status. Foreign language texts are welcome too.

The initiative will support the teaching of literature and drama at UCI as well as provide funding to graduate students. For each recording we will employ one or more graduate students; the dramatic readings will be directed by Sara Rodriguez Mulatero, MFA in Drama. All recordings will be accessible via streaming for free to students and the general public.

Click here to submit your proposal. Deadline is August 1, 2020.
