Directed by: Anisa Sabiri, co-sponsor of the festival
Moderator: Lora Mjolsness, Department of European Languages and Studies

Sabiri's The Crying of Tanbur is set during the little-known civil war which began in Tajikistan after the collapse of the Soviet Union. This film explores a young boy's loss of childhood as he is caught up in the horror of war and in his own fears. Both the film and the filmmaker are examples of how children of Tajikistan's civil war have searched for belonging, often crossing borders, and sometimes returning home.

Light refreshments will be served
