Borders & Belonging co-sponsors "Writing/Belonging Open Workshop" (Applications Due Nov. 10 - new deadline)

 Humanities Center     Nov 19 2019 | 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM TBA after submission

Do you write poems and stories?

Are you compelled to write about where you come from—your community and identity?

How do you write your way towards a sense of belonging?

The Writing/Belonging Open Workshop seeks submissions of short prose (fiction and nonfiction, up to 10 pages double-spaced) and poetry (up to 3 poems) loosely on the themes of identity, community, and belonging. We are a group of MFA creative writing students at UCI who want to read your work!

Writers who submit will be invited to attend a dinner and workshop on Tuesday, November 19, at 5:30-7:30. Please use this form to submit your work by Sunday, November 10 (new deadline). You must RSVP and submit work in order to attend the workshop, which will be capped at a total of 40 participants to keep the conversations intimate.

Each writer will be assigned to a small group workshop, led by a creative writing graduate student at UCI, in which you will discuss and receive constructive feedback on your writing.

This event is sponsored by the UCI Humanities Center: Borders & Belonging and organized in partnership with the MFA Programs in Creative Writing and the Undergraduate Emphasis in Creative Writing.
