Aglaya Glebova, Visual Studies core faculty, received the Berlin Prize to study Soviet avant-garde art at the American Academy in Berlin. Professor Glebova also received a UC President's Faculty Research Fellowship in the Humanities for the 2017-18 academic year to continue work on the same project.
Deanna Kashani, Ph.D. candidate in Visual Studies, has been awarded an Elahé Omidyar Mir-Djalali Fellowship for Excellence in Persian Studies from the Roshan Cultural Heritage Institute to complete her dissertation on contemporary Iranian exhibition practice.
Bliss Cua Lim, Visual Studies core faculty, was granted a Fulbright to conduct research in the Philippines for her book project on the state of the Philippine nation’s film archive.
Alka Patel, Visual Studies core faculty, is spending this academic year at the Getty Research Institute, where she has been named 2017–18 Consortium Scholar on a fellowship to work on her project, “India, Iran and Empire: The Shansabānīs of Ghūr, c. 1150–1215.”
Kayleigh Perkov, Ph.D. candidate in Visual Studies, received the 2017-18 Newkirk Graduate Student Fellowship Award to complete her dissertation, “Giving Form to Feedback: Craft and Technology circa 1968-1974.”
Lucena Lau Valle, Ph.D. candidate in Visual Studies, was named Associate Program Officer for California Humanities, one of the state’s oldest arts and culture grant awarding organizations.
Cécile Whiting, Visual Studies core faculty, has been appointed a Paul Mellon Visiting Senior Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. for summer 2018.
