The goal of the seminar will be two-fold: first, to facilitate the research and writing of participants who are already engaged in scholarly work in this area; and second, to provide intellectual resource for those who are starting to work in this field and are planning to teach related courses or to engage in writing and research on this or related areas. My function as leader is first to initiate some lines of discussion and investigation, and then to sustain an atmosphere where mutual exchanges and stimulation can best take place. No extensive written work will be required, but I will be happy to discuss individual research projects, teaching plans, or written work-in-progress throughout the five weeks.
