UCI TRANSFER SURVIVAL TIPS
Order your books online. Depending on when your courses begin, you may find it convenient to have books shipped to your door. Visit www.book.uci.edu/ COURSE BOOKS to search required and recommended texts for your classes.
Take a campus tour. Before you begin classes, get to know your way round by taking a campus tour. Campus tours are offered Monday through Friday at noon, www.campustours.uci.edu/tourtime.htm . Take a virtual campus tour at www.vrlab.uci.edu/vuci/ .
Become familiar with UCI locations and lingo. HIB, HH, HOB2, KH... where are your classes? You will find building and course type abbreviations in the Schedule of Classes (SOC). Campus maps can be found in the SOC, at www.uci.edu/campusmap/ , in HIB 143, and many other campus offices.
Figure out where to park. Before classes start, find out which parking lots are likely to have spaces on the days/times you will be on campus. Ask current students for parking tips. www.parking.uci.edu/
Learn the workings of the UCI Libraries. The UCI Libraries are probably very different than libraries you have experienced in the past. Librarians are ready to help—in person or at www.lib.uci.edu/ .
Be prepared for a range of class sizes. Some classes, such as seminars, can have as few as 10 students enrolled, while lower-division lecture course can have 40-100 students.
Investigate UCI's Research Opportunities Program. UROP offers research funding, and on and off-campus research opportunities, www.//urop.uci.edu .
