RECEIVED FIRST DEGREE FROM UCI:

• You must meet the minimum required prerequisites, as stated below, in order to apply for a second B.A. in that field.

• Completion of the minimum required prerequisites does NOT guarantee admission.

• You must apply for readmission as a second B.A. student by the following deadlines: August 1 for fall quarter, November 1 for winter quarter and February 1 for spring quarter.

• It is expected, in all fields, that you are prepared to enter courses at the junior level.

• Lower-division major courses may be completed at the community college.

Lower-division major courses required for acceptance as a second B.A.

Applicants in all majors must have completed:

• Humanities Core course or alternative
• One year of language other than English. (A second year in the same language must be completed for graduation.)
• Lower-division major requirements:

African American Studies: AfAm 40A,B,C.

Art History: Art History 40A,B,C or 42A,B,C.

Asian American Studies: AsAm 60A,B,C.

Chinese Studies: completion of two years of college-level Mandarin Chinese.

Classical Civilization: completion of one year of college-level classical Greek or Latin.

Classics: completion of one year of college-level classical Greek or Latin.

Comparative Literature: Comp Lit 60A,B,C.

East Asian Cultures: completion at the college level of two years of college-level Mandarin Chinese, college-level Japanese or college-level Korean.

English: Three courses from English 28A (or D),B, C (or E).

European Studies: completion of two years of college-level French, German, Classical Greek, Italian, Latin, Portuguese, Russian or Spanish; History 70B.

Film & Media Studies: Film and Media Studies 85A-B-C.

French: completion of two years of college-level French.

German Studies: completion of two years of college-level German.

Global Cultures: History 21A,B,C.

History: Three courses from History 70ABCDEF.

Humanities and Arts: Admission to this major by petition only.

Japanese Language and Literature: completion of two years of college-level Japanese.

Korean Literature and Culture: completion of two years of college-level Korean.

Latin: completion of one year of college-level Latin.

Literary Journalism: Literary Journalism 20 and 21 and one course from English 28A (or D), B, C (or E), Comp Lit 60A or C.

Philosophy: Philosophy 10, 12 and 11 or 13.

Religious Studies: Religious Studies 5A,B,C.

Spanish: completion of two years of college-level Spanish.

Women’s Studies: Women’s Studies 50A plus two courses from Women’s Studies 50B,50C,60A,60B,60C.
