Faculty Resources for Academic Honesty

  • DUE publishes guidelines for faculty to address incidents of academic dishonesty. If you have questions about the policy, please consult the Associate Dean or Director of Humanities Undergraduate Study at 4-5132.

  • Tools for Teaching is a book by Barbara Gross Davis, Assistant Vice Chancellor for the Division of Equity & Inclusion at UC Berkeley. A chapter on "Preventing Academic Dishonesty" is available online as a resource to educators.

  • Turnitin.com is an online plagiarism detection tool to which UCI has access. Originality Checking allows instructors to check students' work for improper citation or potential plagiarism by comparing it against continuously updated databases. For more information, visit Turnitin.com. To request an account, email Penny Portillo.

  • Plagiarism.org is another anti-plagiarism resource for educators and students. Visit their website, or go directly to the article, "Guidelines for Plagiarism Prevention."

  • Clemson University offers some additional resources. Visit their Center for Academic Integrity for articles, links to web sites, and more.
