My early work focused on twentieth-century Spanish poetry, particularly on the novísimo poets and their contemporaries. My current interests include the representations of gendered national identities in both Spanish and trans-Atlantic cultural production, including poetry, film, narrative, publishing houses, and literary prizes. I have recently edited a book on Ana Rossetti's complete works, and I continue working on a book-length study on the representations of the "feminine" and the nation in the poetry of 20th century Spanish women.

I have taught a broad range of courses on Spanish and trans-Atlantic literature and culture, including undergraduate courses on la movida madrileña, post-Civil-War Spanish literature, Spanish culture of the 1960's, twentieth-century Spanish poetry, the modern Spanish essay, gender and fascism in Spain, Spanish women’s writing in the 20th century, the work of Federico García Lorca, and representations of the guerrilla and terrorism in Spain and Latin America. At the graduate level, I have given seminars on Spanish modernism/s, postwar Spanish poetry, representations of nation and nationality, and Spanish women’s poetry of the 20th century.
