Event Details

Arden Everywhere

Jessica Bauman is the artistic director of Arden Everywhere, a staging of Shakespeare's As You Like It that incorporates immigrant and refugee stories into a modern retelling of Shakespeare's pastoral comedy.

Jessica Bauman will be in residence at UCI October 20-22. She will work with a group of UCI students affiliated with our FRESH Basic Needs Hub  to stage 1-2 scenes from As You Like It. The workshop will use Shakespeare to address issues of food insecurity in relation to immigration, and will incorporate student narratives into a staged reading / performance. The performance itself will take place in the FRESH Hub space and will launch the School of Humanities’ second annual fundraiser for UCI's food pantry.

If you are interested in getting involved in this project as a student actor or as a patron/donor, please contact Julia Lupton, jrlupton@uci.edu.

Did you know? According to a recent study, 40% of UC students suffer from some level of food insecurity.
