Was Hamlet insane when he killed Polonius and sent Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to their deaths, or did he retain enough moral sense to be held accountable for their demise?
Hamlet’s lawyer, Song Richardson (UCI School of Law) will argue the insanity defense, based on his delusions and depression. The prosecutor (Erwin Chemerinsky, Berkeley Law) will argue that the prince was merely pretending to be mad. The Honorable Andrew Guilford, District Judge, will bring order to the courtroom for this literary and legal adventure.
Who is right? You’ll be part of the jury! Audience members will vote on the outcome. This literary and legal adventure features Erwin Chemerinsky (Dean, Bolt School of Law), Song Richardson (Interim Dean, UCI School of Law), and the Honorable Andrew Guilford, Distict Judge.
Directed by Eli Simon
