"Hinge Epistemology"

February 22, 6:30 P.M.
HG 1002

In this talk, I present the key elements of "Hinge Epistemology".  This is a trend in contemporary epistemology inspired by Wittgenstein's considerations in On Certainty.  Both the historical roots of hinge epistemology and its more systematic development will be discussed.  Special attention will be paid to its anti-skeptical implications, its relationship with epistemic relativism and its possible applications in social epistemology.
