Mohammad Manzarpour started his career in university, where he was a social reporter for Peyk-e Azadi student weekly publication.
In 1996, during a bloody attack on a dormitory at Tehran University, he filed a series of reports from behind the barricades.
In May 1998, Mohammad joined the English daily ‘Tehran Times’ and was soon promoted to the post of Economic Editor.
In 2001, Mohammad joined Atieh Bahar Consulting (ABC) as a political analyst in the "Macro Analysis and Social Research" division, where he contributed to their fortnightly publication, Iran Press Analysis. Within a year, he had been promoted to manager of Recruitment and Human Resources.
Mohammad joined BBC Persian Radio as a Producer in 2002 and was promoted to Senior producer in 2007. He moved to television in 2009 as BBC Persian’s Middle East Correspondent - an assignment that saw him cover the Gaza War, the Tunisian revolution and the birth of the Arab Spring. He has worked all over the Middle East, including Jerusalem, Tahrir Square, Tripoli, Ras Ajdir and Gaza City.
Mohammad led the BBC Persian’s US coverage as Washington D.C. Bureau Chief until 2003 when he was appointed Executive Editor of Voice of America (Persian).
At VOA, during a time when US policy shifted to a policy of engagement with Tehran, it was Mohammad who oversaw the transformation of VOA’s output during the historic nuclear negotiations which culminated in the signing of the JCPOA.
In 2017, Mohammad joined the launch team at Iran International TV, a 24/7 Persian-language news channel based in London and broadcasting by satellite into Iran and aimed at Persian speakers all over the world. Mohammad is currently the Executive Editor of News gathering at Iran International.
