Message from the Director:

Latin American Studies is designed to promote the critical and interdisciplinary understanding of the peoples, arts, cultures, politics, economies, and history of the region. Since its founding over twenty years ago, it has provided an institutional base of support teaching and research through its interdisciplinary minor, through conferences and speakers, and through its support of research on Latin America. LAS draws upon 33 talented and dedicated faculty in 12 disciplines to fulfill its charge to foster teaching, research, and the dissemination of academic advances to a local, national, and an international audience.
