Sri Ravipati
Sri Ravipati is a fourth-year Literary Journalism major. She currently contributes to the New University, plays intermural soccer, sings a capella with UCI Andaaz, and participates in A Positive Space for Women. For the past year and a half, she has dedicated her weekends to being a professional faerie for Happily Ever Laughter Parties, performing face painting, balloon twisting and magic for children. She says that the honesty and imagination children possess has inspired much of her writing. On the opposite side of the spectrum, she really enjoys crime reporting and writing social commentary pieces. Her favorite part of journalism is interviewing people for stories. In her free time, she ventures on trips around Southern California, catches up on her Netflix queue, and goes on long bike rides.

Recommended reading for everyone and why: Read Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut because World War II soldier Billy Pilgrim has become “unstuck in time” and abducted by Tralfamadorian aliens into their human zoo—the novel is darkly funny and combines fantasy and realism.
