Favorite destination: Madrid, Spain
Best read:
East of Eden by John Steinbeck
Most extreme lengths you've gone to for a story:
Spending a weekend in the Colorado Desert, photographing dead fish and flooded homes.
The story behind the story:
I became interested in Lebanon after writing a story about local Armenian culture. After meeting a few Armenians who had grown up in Beirut during the civil war, I wondered if it would be possible to reconstruct their experiences. Barry Siegel's "Art of Reconstruction" workshop gave me that opportunity.
