School of Humanities Humanities Internship Program |
|
H U M A N I T I E S I N T E R N S H I P P R O G R A M The
UCI School of Humanities Internship Program brings together Humanities
majors with private and public sector businesses and non-profit
agencies
in Orange County looking for employees who have excellent writing and
communication
skills. Employers who are
participating
in the program believe that your education in critical thinking,
writing,
communication, and analysis equips you to be a successful employee in
their
firms.
The internships begin in the summer and continue for the full academic
year. Interns work 10-15 hours a week for a minimum hourly salary of
$12. Because
employers
offer the interns management-level supervisors, student interns
have
substantial work responsibilities and are involved in meaningful
aspects of the firm's ongoing business. The internship
relationship
can become the basis for long-term employment with the firm.Interns will also
participate in quarterly meetings at UCI with the program coordinator
and the other interns to discuss their work experiences and benefit
from one another's insights. At the end of each quarter, the
intern will provide an assessment of their experience for the program
coordinator. The program coordinator will also conduct on-site
visits with the interns and their supervisors. The
program is open to declared School of Humanities majors who are in good
academic
standing and who will have completed the Humanities Core
Course (or the Core Course substitution) by the end of spring quarter
will
be eligible. Students must be enrolled full time for the duration of
the
internship. Click here for program requirements.
Applications are available on-line, or in the Humanities Undergraduate Study Office, in mid Winter Quarter. The application deadline is in early April. |
