Humanities and Arts welcome UC Irvine

Welcome to the Humanities and Arts Undergraduate Major! Here theory and practice meet. The Humanities and Arts Major wants to nurture creative capacities, refine practical and performance skills while expanding his/her critical and intellectual horizons. Students will be prepared to become active and productive participants in a world where the lines between critique and creation and image and information are increasingly blurred.

Students can design their own interdisciplinary course of study while can taking advantage of opportunities to work closely with the outstanding artists, musicians and playwrights of the Claire Trevor School of the Arts as well as the world-famous and award-winning scholars in the School of the Humanities. UCI faculty in the Humanities and Arts are actively engaged in exciting work between the two academic units. The Humanities and Arts Major translates this intellectual and creative activity into a coherent curriculum and implements current forms of scholarship and artistic practice into the classroom.

Once accepted, majors will be assigned a faculty advisor and are expected to pursue course work in two majors, one in the School of the Arts and one in the School of the Humanities.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Lumen Hwang (Humanities and Arts Administrator) or Professor Carrie Noland (Director of Humanities and Arts). We look forward to helping you explore the possibilities offered by this Inter-school Program!
