Pedro Acuña has been awarded UCI's Miguel Velez Scholarship for students of Latin American citizenship who demonstrate outstanding past academic achievement and future promise. All Latin American graduate students at UCI, including the Sciences, are eligible and the award is rarely given to a Humanist. The award includes one quarter of stipend for dissertation writing.
