Ryan Tucker Jones, associate professor at the University of Oregon, is the author of Empire of Extinction: Russians and the Strange Beasts of the Sea (Oxford, 2014), as well as several articles exploring the environmental history of the oceans.
Dr. Jones will be speaking on the histories of whale culture and colonialism on April 24th from 12-1pm in Murray Krieger Hall, room 126.
