HIRC Media Policies
The following policies are in effect in order to facilitate access
to the HIRC Media Collections by all members of the School
of Humanities for research and teaching. With over 700 items
in the collection, tracking of resources is critical. Thank
you for your cooperation. Feel free to contact us if you have
any further questions or comments regarding these policies.
STUDENTS:
Undergraduate students are not allowed to take any media out of
HIRC. Videos, LaserDiscs, and CD-ROMS can be viewed in the Labs
only. Graduate students who are currently teaching and need to
preview a film for use in class may check it out overnight only.
If showing a movie on more than one day, it must be returned to
HIRC in between.
FACULTY:
Faculty may check out video tapes overnight for preview, or longer
for research purposes. Longer checkouts must be arranged on a case-by-case
basis with HIRC Director or Administrative Assistant. Film Studies
affiliated faculty who are currently teaching may check out any
video tape for the quarter. All Film Studies faculty (teaching
or not) may check out Film Studies-owned holdings on a quarterly
basis. Exceptions must be arranged on a case-by-case basis with
HIRC Director or Administrative Assistant. End-of-quarter notices
will be sent (vie email or hard copy) for all outstanding media
to be returned. If a longer loan is needed, materials must be accounted
for and re-checked out.
