The Humanities Center awards
grants to faculty and graduate students for individual research
projects. Individual projects typically involve extended
research for a paper, presentation, publication or other
project.
Complete applications include the following:
• Cover sheet
• One-page resume of proposer
• Abstract (100 words maximum)
• Narrative description of project (1,000 words maximum)
• List of conference participants, with one-page resumes (if applicable)
• Itemized project budget
Faculty Grants ($3,000 maximum)
Proposals may include requests for support in the following
areas:
• The purchase of supplies directly related to the
project (excludes computers, printers and other hardware,
and personal items)
• Manuscript preparation or publication subsidies (excluding
indexing) up to $1500
• Travel to research collections
The Center does NOT provide funding for the following:
• Per diem for research travel
• Lodging (funded only in exceptional cases)
• The hiring of research assistants
Graduate Student Grants ($1,500 maximum per career)
Proposals may include requests for support in the following
areas:
• Travel and travel-related expenses directly related
to the project
• The purchase of supplies directly related to the project (excludes
computers, printers and other hardware, and personal items)
The Center does NOT provide funding for the following:
• Manuscript preparation or publication subsidies
• Travel for the purpose of presenting papers at conferences or language
study
The Center will NOT provide funding for projects that take
place after the expenditure deadline. See call for proposals
