Each academic year, Humanities receives limited funding from the Office of Graduate Studies to support graduate student participation in professional meetings and conferences. Students are strongly encouraged to work with their Graduate Advisor to explore and determine relevant opportunities to interact and network with other graduate students and faculty who share similar research interests.
$500 is available to students who present a paper at a conference. Awards are up to $500 each for 2 trips. Career maximum $1,000. Acceptance letter and department and Humanities’ Associate Graduate Dean approval required. Students must submit original receipts in order to be considered for travel-related reimbursements.
Please note that in recent years these funds have been depleted before the end of the academic year, and we have therefore been unable to fund a number of requests until the next academic year’s allocation.
PROCEDURE:
Complete a Conference Travel Grant Application [form available under Forms Sections on this website], obtain the approval of your Graduate Advisor and submit form and attachments to your Graduate Program Administrator.
All travel advances and reimbursements are to be processed by the student’s home department travel coordinator and only upon approval by the Humanities’ Associate Graduate Dean via an award letter issued to the graduate student.
