Teatro de Cabaret: Imaginarios disidentes (Cabaret Theatre: Dissident Imaginaries) studies the cabaret as a ludic and flexible space, which by its direct relationship to social and political context, becomes an ideal cultural object to understand the political and sexual dissidence of contemporary Mexico.
Although cabaret theater has a long history in Latin America, there are few studies of it. This book studies the specific case of Mexico City. It examines this theatrical tradition from the point of view of its popular roots and  shows its relationship to Mexican social and sexual imaginaries. The author refers also to historical and artistic antecedents of the genre.

Cabaret theatre: Dissident Imaginaries studies Paquita la del Barrio, Francis, Astrid Hadad, Jesus Rodríguez y Tito Vasconcelos. According to the author, all of the performers  ģhave converted their bodies into staging objects, from which they make fun of, resist and, sometimes, reinforce the rules that the official Mexican culture has imposed on them.ī
