The French and Italian Faculty blends the study of contemporary theories (post-colonial, post-structuralist, psychoanalytic, feminist) with the study of literary and cultural traditions from throughout the French and Francophone world. Students benefit from a wide array of interdisciplinary resources (which include the UC Humanities Research Institute) and from close contact with experts in both a particular literary field and a related discipline (women's studies, film, art history, philosophy, comparative literature, cultural studies). By combining rigorous intellectual standards with flexible fields of specialization, our faculty trains students to meet the broad interdisciplinary and transcultural challenges of the twenty-first century. |
