Statement on Foreign Language Competence

TO THE APPLICANT: The graduate programs in English and Comparative Literature rely strongly on competence in foreign languages. Ordinarily, applicants are not admitted without at least one acceptable foreign language, and a start on a second is highly recommended. Since language competence is sometimes difficult to ascertain from transcripts and other application materials, you are requested to make a more precise statement of your foreign language training and ability by filling out the form below. This form is to be printed out and submitted by mail.
