Any student with a BA degree can apply for the “stand-alone” terminal M.A. program in European Thought and Culture
Application to the program is electronic. All the required application materials listed below are to be uploaded to the application by the department deadline.

The admissions requirements for the stand-alone M.A. program are:

1) A completed graduate application, including a Personal History Statement, and a Statement of Purpose. 
2) Unofficial transcripts for all institutions attended since high school, including GPA (cumulative minimum of 3.0; major 3.3). Please upload to your online application both, the front and back sides of each transcript.
3) Three letters of recommendation from faculty in related fields. The letters should be uploaded to the application electronically. Paper or hardcopies of letters will not be accepted.
4) Writing sample: Five to ten pages in length. This sample should be academic in nature and highlight your research and writing abilities. All writing samples must be uploaded electronically to the online application by the application deadline.
5) Foreign Language requirement. Students admitted to the program are required to demonstrate reading knowledge in one European language other than English. For all students this prerequisite requirement is expected to be completed by the time they receive their B.A. through completion of two years of language (through the 2C level or equivalent).
