Let's Introduce the Different Culture, Great East Japan Earthquake/Religions to your Classmates!" 

日時: 6月3, 4, 5 日 (火、水、木曜日) 教室で

Based on your experience and research, compare the culture of Japan, USA, and/or another culture that you want to introduce, and make a PPT presentation. Conduct a research to talk about how the particular culture/custom was formed, what value does it reflect, what kind of social implication does it have, etc.

Based on what you have researched for your paper 2, make a PPT presentation, introducing your findings to your classmates in the way that they will understand.  You will use Japanese only in your speech, but you may add the English equivalent of the advanced Japanese vocabulary in your PPT slides.

Methods of Research:
- Read books or magazine articles
- Search on the internet for information
- Interview someone who is knowledgeable of your topic 

Presentation:
- The length of your presentation should be around 4 minutes long followed by a 2 minute question-and-answer period
- Use desu/masu polite form for your speech.
- You may use notes; you will be marked off if you read directly off of the cards. 
- The slides that you utilize should help the audience understand your presentation.
- Please consider the level of proficiency of your classmates and control your vocabulary to suit your audience.

Purposes:
- To enhance presentational communication skills (ACTFL National Standards).
- To integrate the 21st Century Skills, such as technology literacy or critical thinking)
- To share what you found out about the Great East Japan Earthquake/religions with your classmates.
- To learn to switch the langauge register from the paper style to the speech style.


Evaluation [Total 40 points]
This is an oral presentation, not a written assignment.  Primarily, your speaking will be evaluated.  The criteria is as follows:
1. Content (Depth of Research + Your Opinions)....10 pt. 
2. Presentation style  Accuracy/Fluency/memorization...10 pt. 
3. Variety of expressions used….8 pt.
4. Effectiveness of the PPT Slides….8 pt.
5. Evaluation by the Classmates…4 pt.1. Content (Depth of Research + Your Opinions)....10 pt.
