Event Details

The graduate students at the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures would like to invite you to our second film screening as part of a quarterly film series. The film screenings are free, and are followed by refreshments and a short discussion.

The film screening is on Tuesday (5/9) at 5:00pm in Humanities Gateway (HG) 1010. We will be screening: I Was Born But... (1932, Dir. Ozu Yasujiro, Japan).

Synopsis: I Was Born But... is a 1932 film by Ozu Yasujiro that features two young boys who struggle to come to terms with social injustice.  This film comedically portrays the boys' painful recognition, and rejection of, the reality that social rank is achieved by wealth and not rank.

For more information on this week’s film screening and for future events, please check out the attached flyer or visit our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/EALLFILM/

Sincerely,
