Rules for trial use of
the Electronic Database of Song Hui Yao Ji Gao Trial Version

(For users in the United States and Canada)

Stipulated by:

Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica, Taiwan, ROC (IHP hereafter) &
East Asian Languages and Civilizations Department, Harvard University, USA (EALC hereafter)

 

I. The purpose of trial use and application qualification:

1. “The Electronic Database of Song Hui Yao Ji Gao Trial Version” (the Database hereafter) is only open to historians that study the Song history.  Users are expected to report any error in the Database to the Institute of History and Philology for the improvement of the Database.

2. Applicants employed by institutions in the United States and Canada must apply according to the Rules and obey the regulations stated.

3. Applicants other than those described in 2 should apply with IHP.

4. Applicants will become legitimate users of the Database if applications are approved.

 

 

II. How to apply:

1. Applicants must submit two copies of the required information (please see below):

(1) Research topic or research project

(2) Fill out and sign the application forms

2. Please send one copy of the application to EALC and the other to IHP

III. Application Review Process

1. Applicants in the United States and Canada will be reviewed by EALC.

2. EALC will send the approved applications to IHP.  After the applications have been confirmed by IHP, the Computing Center of Academia Sinica will grant access to the users by locking IP addresses.

 

 

 

IV. Access to the Database is limited to one account per person per personal computer.  The following are prohibited:

1.     Giving away the account name and password.

2.     Reproducing any part of the Database in any form, by copying from the Internet, microfilm, xerography or any other means, or incorporated into any information retrieval system, electronic or mechanical, except hardcopies for personal research use.

3.     Using the Database to conduct any form of business activity.

Users who commit any one of the above activities will be warned, and their eligibility will be suspended or terminated by IHP.  IHP reserves the right to prosecute offenders.

 

 

V. Users must indicate in the publications if researches involve the use of the Database.

 

 

VI. The period of trial use, starting on the first day of the month, is one year.  Before the completion of “the Electronic Database of Song Hui Yao Ji Gao Formal Version”, existing trial users must reapply prior to the expiration date if wishing to continue accessing the Database.

 

 

VII. IHP will no longer accept applications for trial use of the Database after IHP completes “the Electronic Database of Song Hui Yao Ji Gao Formal Version”; existing trial users may continue accessing the Database until accounts expire.
