Distinguished Lecture with Dr. Rafael Campo

 Center for Medical Humanities     Jan 14 2016 | 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM HG1030

On January 14, 2016, the Medical Humanities Initiative hosted Harvard Professor Dr. Rafael Campo for two events. In the afternoon, the acclaimed poet-physician led an intimate workshop in the Humanities Gateway. Dr. Campo provided packets of some of his favorite poems and then led an analysis and discussion of the poetry. In the evening, Dr. Campo provided the Medical Humanities Winter Distinguished Lecture, reading from his own renowned poetry books and providing background on his writing. Both of these events highlighted the need for compassionate care in medicine, the positive role that art and the humanities can have in medical practice, and how art and literature can benefit from the added input from physicians.
