Flint Water Crisis

On Thursday March 10 in Calit2, the UCI Medical Humanities Initiative and UCI Water co-sponsored “Crystal Clear: The Flint Water Crisis,” a panel discussion which provided an interdisciplinary perspective on the current water crisis in Flint, Michigan. History professor Dr. Andrew Highsmith, gave background on the history of post-World War II Flint and the history of public health (See Dr. Highsmith’s talk here), Planning Policy and Design chair Dr. David Feldman and provided a public policy perspective (See Dr. Feldman’s talk here), and Public Health professor Dr. Dele Ogunseitan explained some of the causes and health consequences of the water crisis, most notable lead poisoning (See Dr. Ogunseitan’s talk here).
