Join us for lunch as Janice Rhoshalle Littlejohn, The Workshop’s Director, and Tom Lutz, LARB Founder/Publisher, speak to and share information with students about this exciting career development opportunity.

For too long, publishing has been inaccessible to all but a small cross-section of the population — moneyed, New York–centric, Ivy League — and the result is a lack of diversity at every level of the profession.

The Los Angeles Review of Books / USC Publishing Workshop aims to transform the industry from the ground up.

Last June, The Workshop launched its inaugural session with 56 U.S. and international Fellows. During this immersive, five-week program, the participants train in digital and print publishing through real-world, hands-on experience with input and advice from guests representing varied aspects of the field. The Workshop’s Fellows have already launched two publishing companies, two print magazines, and four websites, and many have gone to work in publishing companies, with agent and book publicity agencies, and other publishing entities.

LARB is actively raising scholarship money to ensure qualified candidates can attend, regardless of means. A quarter of all students pay no tuition, and another 50% pay a reduced rate.

Applications are now open for the 2018 session. For details, visit https://thepublishingworkshop.com/program-details/.

The Workshop is hosting weekly dialogues on Twitter about topics related to the publishing industry, present and future, with guests who have special insight on related areas of interest. Follow the conversations on Twitter @lareviewofbooks using the hashtag #theworkshop.
