"(Re)Reading Capital in Irvine"

 Center for Culture and Capital     Oct 24 2016 | 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM HIB 135

We will be holding our first official session of (Re)Reading Capital in Irvine on Monday October 24, from 7-10 PM in HIB 341. We will plan to read everything in the verso "Complete edition" up to 72, and while we encourage you to revisit some of the relevant materials from Marx that will be discussed in this section, our primary object for this session will be Reading Capital. Please let me know if you would like to attend, but are experiencing any difficulties in obtaining the text.

Let me emphasize again that all are welcome (faculty and grad students, and I’m expecting some folks from UCSD to join in, so please feel free to circulate to any interested parties), and also that you need not feel bound to commit to the entire year (meaning we fully expect that some people will come in and out periodically throughout the year). The one thing we do ask is that you come prepared with some questions, insights, or concerns; the majority of us are coming at this from a Marxist frame of reference, but we welcome other disciplinary orientations as well.

I will do my absolute best to bring some provisions to share, but feel free to contribute as well (7-10 is a long three hours, and we are currently doing this thing grassroots style). We will also devote some time to discussing more practical considerations concerning the shape of the year to come.

All best, and please RSVP at your earliest convenience to mmmahone@uci.edu. And as always, please feel free to pose any questions/concerns to myself (mmmahone@uci.edu), Devan Bailey (dpbailey@uci.edu), or Alden Sajor Wood (aldenw@uci.edu).

All best and Looking Forward,

Michael, Devan, Alden
