Kyna Leski, Creativity Workshop: Keyword Tectonics

 Humanities Center     Feb 10 2017 | 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM HG1341

All of us work our way through the empty page, the blank screen, writer’s block, confusion, chaos and doubt. We gather evidence — with notebook jottings, research, the collection of objects—propelling the process. We perceive and conceive; we look ahead without knowing where we are going; we make connections. The workshop will introduce physical ways of forming connections between written words in three and four dimensions. Please rsvp to Julia Lupton (jrlupton@uci.edu) for lunch. This workshop is for graduate students, faculty and post-docs in humanities, arts, and related fields.

Kyna LeskiKyna Leski is Professor in the Department of Architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design and a Founding Principal of 3six0 Architecture. Leski is a principal of 3SIXØ Architecture in Providence, which was founded in 1997. 3SIXØ’s work includes a house to dwell in – in awe, a church that inspires and expands, a store that contracts  into a restaurant bar, a salon that extends the life of the city inside and a pedestrian bridge that connects a historic past to today. The Rhode Island AIA has bestowed its top honors on 3SIXØ 17 times, and the Boston Society of Architects has awarded 3SIXØ four times. In 2002 Architectural Record named 3SIXØ one of ten “vanguard” architecture firms emerging worldwide and in 2008 recognized 3SIXØ with a Record Interior award.

This workshop is open to all, and is recommended to students participating in the Grad Slam.
