Seymour Menton, founding chair of U.C.I.'s Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, was honored by the Asociación de Colombianistas at its bi-annual meeting held at the University of Virginia from August 5-8. A session was devoted to the second updated edition of Menton's book La novela colombiana, planetas y satélites (2007), originally published in Bogotá in 1978.
Earlier, for three weeks in July, Menton taught two graduate courses, one on Nobel-Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez, and the other on the Spanish American short story at Middlebury College's Summer School of Languages. |
