Comparative Literature Workshop: Eyal Amiran (Comparative Literature) and Rob Schoenbeck (English) on the digital archive
We will have a seminar style discussion, following a short presentation. Basis of the discussion are the following texts:
1. Wendy Chun, “The Enduring Ephemeral, or the Future is a Memory” at http://www.design.ucla.edu/events/calendar.php?ID=506 (50 minutes), a 2008 Lecture by Wendy Chun at UCI and elsewhere; taken from her Critical Inquiry article
2. Vannevar Bush, “As We May Think” (1945) at http://www.theatlantic.com/
The presentation is part of a series of regular workshops on the topic, "Document/Documentary.” The workshops promote critical inquiry into literature, film and media studies, cultural studies, anthropology,
philosophy and the arts. Faculty and graduate students from Comparative Literature and related departments are invited to propose workshops on research they are currently pursuing. Participants might present work-in-progress or lead a general discussion of questions related to suggested readings. If you are interested in participating, please e-mail Annette Schlichter at aschlich@uci.edu.Flyer |
